Champion du monde en 1984 en 250cc (2eme en 1983) avec 7 victoires en Grand Prix (6 en 250cc et 1 en 500cc; 37 podiums au total). 3eme du championnat du monde 500cc en 1985 et 1989. Il fait partie des trois pilotes fran&ccedil;ais (avec Pierre Monneret et R&eacute;gis Laconi) ayant remport&eacute; une victoire en 500 cc vitesse, au GP d'Allemagne en 1985.
